On September 30, 2021, the BIM Power Plant, located in Phuoc Minh commune, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan province, marked a significant milestone. The facility, developed by BIM Wind Power Joint Stock Company—a subsidiary of BIM Group—with PC1 (PC1) as the EPC general contractor, achieved commercial operation (COD) with an impressive capacity of 88 MW through its 22 turbines. This achievement distinguished it as Vietnam’s first large-scale power plant to reach full COD in record time. The operational BIM wind power project is poised to contribute substantially to reducing air pollution, bolstering energy security, and integrating salt production for local consumption and international export.
On August 15, 2021, PC1 achieved a milestone by energizing the 220kV transformer station, which includes the newly constructed BIM 4 station with two feeders and an additional feeder at the Quan The 220kV Switching Station, along with a 220kV line featuring eight column positions linking BIM 4 substation to Quan The Switching Station. Situated on a salt field, this initiative has evolved into Vietnam’s most extensive renewable energy complex that integrates salt production. The project underscores BIM Group’s commitment to investing in clean energy development. PC1 has adeptly navigated the project’s unique demands, ensuring construction proceeded without disrupting adjacent operations, by deploying a fleet of aerial and towing equipment for rope work over salt fields during peak seasons, and utilizing advanced underground drilling technology to install over 30km of medium voltage underground cables, navigating through challenging routes including National Highway 1A, the North-South railway, and internal waterways.
Implementation time: July 2020 and COD before September 31, 2021
